Can you ask for a healthily toned and admired body? Of course you can. You can ask for one from your Personal Fitness Trainer but in the end much of the hard work has to be done yourself.
To start with, you must have the right and very importantly, a POSITIVE attitude. Attitude, attitude, attitude and this can get you there.
Now The Body does not refer to your physical self. I can think of many examples but broadly, it can also refer to an establishment, a religious order and also your company, your business. Heard of the term, ‘body corporate’?
Working your business is no different from working on your body.
Let’s look at your own individual business. Which part of your business do you consider as the ‘arms’, ‘back’, ‘legs’ and the ‘abs’? Which of these you must first of all concentrate for the rest to function properly? Does the word “Core Business” rings a bell with anyone? Physically, it means your abdominal area and your lower back.
Having built a strong CORE in that area of your body or business, you can then pursue and strengthen other areas of your body or business. Think of CORE as Coordinate, Orientate, Respond and Expand in putting together your sales pitch – 60 seconds is all it needs – and extend it to your overall business.
Knowing your CORE means knowing what you do and what you do really well – in other words, your USPs (Unique Selling Points). This is the foundation on which you built other auxiliary benefits to your product and service features.
Whichever part of your body you choose to focus and exercise upon, it is time to flex a bit more your muscle.
Flexing your muscle means you move on from CORE to other areas of your business like:
- Telling a good, memorable story of a client whom you have helped;
- Your promotion of the week or for a coming festival or event;
- Recalling favorable feedbacks from satisfied clients on aspects of your business;
- Explaining in layman’s terms what constitute the right circumstances that require your services and help trigger a response from your
business contact to refer you; and - If your business is complicated (like that of the accountant or a solicitor), TELL THEM what to say – in other words, give them a script!;
Building your body effectively also means focusing on a body muscle each workout session. For example, biceps and quadriceps on Monday, chest and back on Wednesday and cross training with either running or swimming on another day. It never hurt to work your abdominals at every workout because as I said earlier, building your CORE is important. The point I am trying to stress here is the importance of planning.
Planning helps to put your business in the right cognitive perspective.
Believe me, if you give your business a good fitness work-out using the tips I give you, be rest assured that you can muscle into any potential business opportunities.
Have a great business work-out!
